Codes and conventions research

I have been studying the codes and conventions of magazines and how each different magazine has the same basic layout and features including a medium close up main image, iconic masthead to build an identification amongst the magazine industry, anchorage text to weigh down the front page and especially the main image, strapline to advertise what the magazine has to offer, exclusives and how the use of colour and splash colour is important. I have studied how different genres appeal to there target audience through the use of specific layouts and colours that have easily recognisable connotations, the magazines are usually stereotypical of there audience so for example a middle aged women's magazine will play on insecurity's by having a beautiful, middle aged women on the front page which causes women too feel they must buy the magazine too find out how too look like that because at that age, image is everything too women and the magazine companies know this. The codes such as a barcode is essential and will feature on every magazine front page and will usually contain the price in small print if the price isn't cheap.
